organize: stack & store.

well my friends, the seasons have changed haven’t they. what are you to do with all those sweaters?

1. wear them with cut-off shorts I say!

2. if you don’t want to do that, just make sure to fold them all nice and neat and put them away.

3. if some got tons of wear in the colder months, make sure to drop that stack off at the dry cleaners before storing them for the season.

4. listen to the Wild Nothings new album Empty Estate as you fold–i promise the time will go by just like that!

5. place a mixture of dried lavender and cedar chips in cheesecloth. tie up the ends.  make a few of these bundles and stash between layers. (i found that a moth ate through a prominent spot on a j.crew merino wool sweater–NEVER AGAIN!!!)

6. make sure to store these AWAY from windows. uv light damages color and you’ll end up with a red sweater with a funny pink stripe where that portion of the sweater got constant sunlight.

et voila. wear next-to-nothing all spring and summer and love that when fall comes around again, everything will be fresh and ready to roll!

ciao,
lk

‘shroom wraps.

soooooo i’ve converted to veganism over the last month or so and i must say that i’m very much satisfied with the decision.  i haven’t craved bacon (yet) and i’ve had only 2 meat attacks so far, only 2!  mushrooms have been a central part of the conversion, i must say.  i often make these mushroom wraps after a late night out or for a quick snack. they are so yummy and light yet filling.

‘shroom wrap recipe (1 serving):

~15 shitake (or any) mushrooms
1 tbsp olive oil
salt/pepper to taste
3/4 cup cooked quinoa
4 bibb lettuce leaves
bragg’s aminos
sriracha

remove stems from ‘shrooms, slice them up and saute in olive oil until tender (about 8-10 mins) adding salt and pepper to taste.  add a dash or 2 of the bragg’s to the quinoa. spoon quinoa onto center of lettuce leaves, add mushrooms and a sliver of sriracha.  pick ‘em up and eat like a taco and love your life!

ciao,

yoga my life #3.

ahhhhh! my list of things to do is sooooo long and as things get crossed out more things perpetually get added.  i can’t help but feel a bit overwhelmed by it sometimes. there are several yoga asanas that symbolize and imbibe strength in the body and mind.  getting into virabhadrasana II (warrior II) for a couple minutes on each side helps me to feel the warrior in myself and thus push through without going into a tailspin! i make sure my pose is aligned properly and sink in with my eyes closed, gaze towards the middle finger. then, everything seems possible.
